Back to The Boogie

Privacy Policy

Effective October 2, 2026

The Boogie helps people discover and stream live concert recordings. This policy explains what information the web app and the iPhone app handle, and the choices you have.

The iPhone app

The The Boogie iPhone app works without an account. You can optionally create an account (email and password) to save favorite songs, bookmarks and playlists, keep a listening history, and join The Hang community under a username you choose; the same account and library work on the website. The app does not include advertising or analytics and does not track you. When you use an account, we store the information described in the next section. To show you artists, shows and audio, the app makes network requests to our backend and to the streaming sources listed below, which, like any web service, can see your IP address and basic request details. Your sign-in token is kept in the iOS Keychain, and the app remembers your last playback position on your device.

If you create an account: information you give us

If you sign in on the website or in the iPhone app, we store:

  • Account details — your email address and name from your sign-in, and the username you choose.
  • Your activity — favorites (BoogLovin'), bookmarks (BoogMarks), playlists, alerts, and your listening history.
  • Community posts — anything you post in The Hang, shown with your username.

We use this to run the features you asked for, such as saving your favorites and showing your history. We do not sell your information and do not use it for advertising.

What others can see is up to you. In your account settings you choose whether to share your favorites and BoogMarks (off unless you turn it on) and your listening history with the community, and whether you want to see what others share. Shared items appear under your username; your email address is never shown to other users.

Doc Boogie (AI assistant)

When you chat with Doc Boogie, your messages are sent to an AI service to generate replies. By default your messages are sent from our backend to a third-party AI service (currently Groq) to generate the reply. If you choose to add your own Groq API key, your messages go to Groq using your key, and your key is stored only in your browser. If you choose a local Ollama server, messages stay on your own computer. If Doc Boogie can't find a show you asked for, we may keep that request (without your email) to improve him. Chat history shown on your device is stored in your browser's local storage. Please do not share sensitive personal information in chat.

Other services we use

  • Base44 — hosting, sign-in and database for the web app.
  • Relisten and the Internet Archive — sources of concert recordings and show details.
  • Setlist.fm, YouTube and Ticketmaster — setlists, videos and upcoming-show information.

These services receive the requests needed to fetch that content and have their own privacy policies.

Data stored on your device

The web app stores preferences, your last playback position and queue, and Doc Boogie settings in your browser's local storage so the app can pick up where you left off. You can clear this at any time in your browser settings.

Your choices and deleting your data

You can permanently delete your account and everything saved with it at any time in the iPhone app (Library → account icon → Delete Account). On the website, open Settings → Delete Account Data to delete your saved data. You can also clear your listening history from the History page. To ask for a copy of your data, or for help with deletion, contact us through info@the-boogie.com.

Children

The Boogie is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

We may update this policy and will change the effective date above when we do.
